Why this happens

Guessing about a sewer line gets expensive. A camera ends the guessing. Homeowners call for one after a string of backups, when they are buying a house, when a cleaning did not hold, or when the yard smells like sewer. On screen you can see the pipe material, every joint, root intrusion, offsets, low spots and breaks. A transmitter in the camera head lets us find that exact spot from above and tell you the depth. Now the problem has an address.

What our crew checks

  1. Access

Through a cleanout, a roof vent, or a toilet pulled for the day.

  2. Full run

Out to the public connection or septic tank, as far as the camera will travel.

  3. Joint by joint

Each connection checked for cracks, roots and offsets.

  4. Bellies

Pools of standing water that reveal a sag.

  5. Surface marks

Problem spots located and marked with depth.

Quick tip from the crewMake sure we can reach the cleanout and tell us about recent backups. If you are buying, ask the listing agent to confirm we can open the cleanout and run water during the visit.

Sewer Camera Inspection near Alamo Ranch and Westover Hills

Shopping for a home on the far west side? Most newer houses in Alamo Ranch, Hunters Ranch and Westpointe have PVC sewer, yet clay soil can still cause a dip or a separated joint that hides until the first backup. Older homes around Lackland and Westlakes may have cast iron or clay pipe. Scoping before closing costs little compared to a sewer repair after.

Sewer Camera Inspection FAQ

Can I watch along?

Yes. We walk through it with you and explain what you are looking at.

Can a sewer camera find a water leak?

No. It only sees inside drains. Supply leaks call for pressure testing and acoustic or thermal gear.

Is a sewer scope worth it when buying?

We recommend it, especially for older homes. A failed sewer is a big, unwelcome surprise after closing.
