Why this happens

Slab homes route water lines beneath or inside the foundation. A leak down there pushes water into the soil and then up through your flooring. Hot lines are the usual offenders, because heat expands the pipe and it rubs against concrete or gravel until it wears through. Watch for warm spots, cracked tile, a hissing noise, mildew along baseboards or a jump in water usage. Left alone, a slab leak can erode the soil your foundation rests on.

What our crew checks

  1. Confirm it

Meter test and shutoffs to rule out fixtures and sprinklers.

  2. Which side

Hot and cold lines tested separately.

  3. Acoustic

Listening devices pick up the leak through concrete.

  4. Thermal

Hot leaks show as warm spots on the surface.

  5. Mark it

Spot flagged so the cut is tight.

While you wait for us

Quick tip from the crewA warm floor spot usually points to the hot line. Shut the cold inlet on top of the water heater until we get there. Tell us where you feel it and when it started.

Slab Leak Detection near Alamo Ranch and Westover Hills

Slab leaks rank near the top of our serious calls on the far west side. The clay beneath Alamo Ranch, Westover Hills and the Potranco Rd neighborhoods shifts every time we swing from drought to downpour. That movement tugs on the PEX and copper under the concrete until something gives. Between the 2021 freeze and the dry summers since, we have found a lot of them.

Slab Leak Detection FAQ

What does a slab leak look like?

Warm floor areas, the sound of water with everything off, cracking tile, or a bill that spikes for no clear reason.

Do I need help right away?

Soon, yes. Water under the slab can weaken the soil and invite mold. If it is the hot line, close the cold inlet at the water heater.

Should I repair or reroute?

It depends where the leak is and how the rest of your pipe looks. We explain both before you decide.
