Water Softener Installation and Repair in San Antonio, TX

Far west side water is hard. A softener sized for your household protects your water heater, fixtures and skin, and we install, service and repair them.

Why this happens

Hard water shows itself as white crust on the faucet, film on the shower glass, scale in the water heater and shampoo that will not suds up. Inside a softener, resin beads swap out calcium and magnesium, then rinse clean with salty brine. When a softener stops pulling its weight, the reason is usually one of a handful. It was sized wrong, the control valve failed, the resin is spent, the salt has formed a crust bridge, or the bypass got left open.

What our crew checks

  1. Water test

Grains of hardness checked so we size it and program it right.

  2. Household size

People and daily usage set the capacity we need.

  3. Plumbing loop

Where the loop sits, how the drain runs, and an air gap at the end.

  4. Brine tank

    Salt level, bridges and float.

  5. Controller

    Settings, clock and cycle tested.

Quick tip from the crewCheck how much salt is in the brine tank and note any code on the display. For a new install, look in the garage near the water heater for capped pipes meant for a softener. Many newer homes out here have them.

Water Softener Installation and Repair near Alamo Ranch and Westover Hills

Edwards Aquifer water is clean but full of dissolved limestone, and the far west side gets plenty of it. Many homes built in Alamo Ranch, Westover Hills and Hunters Ranch over the past twenty years have a softener loop capped off in the garage by the water heater, so installation is simple. Older homes might need a loop added first.

Water Softener Installation and Repair FAQ

Is a softener worth it around here?

For most homes, yes. Hard water cuts years off water heaters and fixtures.

When do I top off the salt?

Check once a month and keep the tank about half full. Bigger families and harder water go through it faster.

Can you service a unit someone else put in?

Yes. We work on most major brands.
