Why this happens

Gas escapes where pipes join and where things move. Threaded fittings, flex connectors behind appliances, rusted pipe, and fittings disturbed by a remodel or by settling. Underground lines can corrode or be struck while digging. Watch for the rotten egg odor, a hissing sound, a patch of dead grass over a buried line, or a gas meter turning with nothing running. Any of these is an emergency.

What our crew checks

  1. Leak search

Electronic detector and soap test at each joint and connector.

  2. Tightness test

We pump the line up and watch the gauge hold.

  3. Flex connectors

Old connectors and appliance valves inspected and replaced as needed.

  4. Underground check

Testing to see if the leak is in a buried section.

  5. Back in service

Each appliance relit and watched once the line passes.

Gas Line Repair near Alamo Ranch and Westover Hills

On newer far west side homes, gas leaks often trace to a flex connector behind the range or dryer, or to CSST nicked during a backyard project. Older homes near Lackland and Hwy 90 may have aging steel pipe with rust where it enters the house. If CPS Energy has red-tagged your meter, we make the repair and pass the pressure test so they can turn service back on.

They likely found a leak. It must be repaired and pass a pressure test before service comes back.

Can you work on propane lines?

Yes. We handle propane and natural gas.
